I remember when I was pregnant I would get advice from my friends and family telling me that I should kiss goodbye any of my "me" time and enjoy it while I could. I didn't mind it then because I didn't quite understand how chaotic my life would be once my kids got older. I thought as they got older so did our schedules, but boy was I wrong. With their added sports schedules, that "me" time I had longed for seemed to get further and further away.
Now that school is back in session and both my kids are finally on the same school schedule, I decided I need to carve out a little "me" time as much as I can while they are in school, because once their school day ends, our busy schedule picks back up.
I have found many different ways of taking some much needed time for myself by going swimming at the pool, reading, catching up on some shows, and taking myself out on a lunch date. Seriously, why cook when I don't have to? I swear most of my days are spent cooking, so taking myself out to lunch is a much-needed treat that I long for.
McDonald's has a new chicken sandwich on their menu – the new Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich- and it couldn't have come at a better time. I am a huge fan of chicken sandwiches so when I heard the news I knew McDonald's would be where I spent my first "me" time-lunch date and boy was I glad it was!
First of all, the Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich is everything I had hoped it would be and then some. The chicken was tender with the perfect amount of crisp on the outside, and the stacked layer of a delectable artisan roll, tomato, lettuce and juicy chicken breast filet blended so well together and was incredibly delicious.
The Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich is also made with 100% chicken breast filet, real buttermilk, and has no artificial colors, which makes for the perfect me time treat!
The sandwich left me full but not over full where I couldn't be productive afterwards. In fact, I spent the rest of my afternoon running around town doing errands. However I will tell you what it did leave me. It left me looking forward to my next me time so I could head back to McDonald's. No kids, just my Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich and me.
