A bedroom should be a haven, but when we're short on time, it often ends up being just the opposite. We toss all sorts of random messes in and shut the door. After all, it's the last place our guests are likely to see when they visit and most of us spend very little time in our rooms during waking hours. We simply crash in them at the end of the day when we're far too exhausted to care or even notice the mess. But studies have shown that an organized and visually pleasing room can actually improve your quality of rest. Here we've compiled some great ways to rearrange your room that will help eliminate clutter and create a cozy atmosphere.

1. Reposition the bed. Try moving your bed away from walls with windows. They let in dust and other pollutants that collect on window treatments and even in your bedding, and can be drafty, all of which can contribute to interrupted sleep.
2. Then raise it up. Get some inexpensive bed risers and several large flat storage containers. Instead of tossing clothes and other junk from around the house on the floor, dressers or bed, store them under the bed where you don't have to look at them all the time. Staring at messes you don't have time to deal with, will only stress you out. Get them out of sight until you have time to address them.
3. Easy access lighting. Take a cue from hotels and mount lights on the wall on either side of the bed. Not only will this save you from having to get out of bed to turn out the light when you're ready for sleep, but if you currently have lamps on your bedside tables, you can get rid of them and have extra space for things like books, candles and a cup of tea to help you unwind at the end of the day.
4. Switch up your bedside tables. Speaking of bedside tables, consider going a little bigger. There's nothing worse than trying to get a sip of water in the middle of the night and accidentally swiping everything off the table in a loud crash. If you need more storage, a bigger bedside table can provide that. For lots of visual impact, you could even drape cafe tables with fabric and use them as nightstands.
5. Relocate your dresser and desk. These items do absolutely nothing for improving your sleep environment, so if you have space elsewhere, move them. If your closet is big enough, keep your dresser there. If a desk is absolutely necessary, move it to a spare room or even an empty corner in your dining room or living room. Bringing work into the bedroom is so not relaxing.
