Can you believe that Thanksgiving is already here! I can already taste the juicy pernil or pavo fresh out of the oven, delicious sweet potatoes and desserts. But before we can get to the eating, we have to brave the kitchen for hours in preparation. Thankfully, there are some tips that will make Thanksgiving cooking so much easier so that you're not entirely wiped out come dinnertime.

- Cooking a turkey takes hour upon hour to complete so why not multitask by cooking while you sleep! Start slow cooking a 20-22 pound turkey around 11pm the day before (making sure to cook the stuffing separately the following day) and you'll wake up to a nearly complete bird. Just use a thermometer to make sure the turkey is fully cooked.
- Mashed potatoes are a Thanksgiving staple. Make yours the fluffiest your guests have ever tasted by adding a pinch of baking powder while you're mashing your potatoes. You can also save yourself some time and frustration by boiling the potatoes with the skin on and then dunking them in cool water once they're done. The skin will peel off quite easily after that.
- While you might entertain thoughts of being Martha Stewart for the holidays, save yourself a little bit of grief by making things in advance and freezing what you can. This works great for pie crusts, chopped vegetables, and gravy.
- As soon as you wake up, set the table. This way if you're running late on your dishes, the table will already be good to go and it'll be one less thing to worry about when guests arrive.
- Have loads of leftovers at the end of the night? Skip the plastic containers and use storage bags instead. This will free up room in your fridge to add in all those tasty meals you'll be munching on for the next few days.
- If you feel like you'll need some extra help, don't be afraid to reach out and delegate. Consider inviting guests over early to help with the preparation. This will help transition any newbies into the family and allow for extra bonding time with loved ones.
