I am going to tell you a dirty secret. It's bad and you will probably think less of me once I tell you, but I have to go there because I finally delt with my dirty secret. Okay, here goes: up until a few days ago, I had not cleaned my oven in YEARS. It was full of caked on baked on I don't know what. Then I found out I could clean my oven with bakind soda without even having to scrub, so I tried it skeptically. The results are AMAZING and I did NOT scrub. Not even a little bit. Seriously, this is the best thing EVER and I have to tell everyone about it. You've got to try it.

There are reasons other than laziness that I did not clean my oven for so long. The first being that I will not use toxic chemical oven cleaners EVER. I think those things are poison and there is nothing you can say to convince me otherwise. The second reason is that I don't have the time or upper body strength to scrub and scrub and scrub until my oven is pristine. I mean I tried, but eventually the baked on caked on whatever stuff won and I gave up and moved on.
Then I saw the video below of how one woman cleaned an oven using baking soda with a little bit of water to create a paste and I gave it a try. In the video she let the mixture sit for hours and then wiped it off. I only let the mixture sit in my oven for an hour and it still worked.
Play the video below to see the awesome results this woman got, but before you do, let me tell you what you'll need and how to do it.
Supplies:
- Baking soda
- Bowl
- Water
- Paper towels or sponge
Directions:
Put a decent amount of baking soda in a bowl. I used a whole box to clean my oven because it was so dirty. Then only add enough warm water so that you can mix it into a paste.
Put the paste directly on the soiled areas of your oven and let it sit anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour or longer depending on how dirty the oven is.
Wipe paste off with paper towels or sponge. If the gunk comes off easily, keep wiping. If it's not coming off, then let the mixture sit longer until the gunk wipes off your oven easily. It's like MAGIC!
