Michele Padilla's family is a soccer family and has been for generations. Her two children, 9-year-old Aiden and 5-year-old Mackenzie, play soccer. Her husband plays soccer. And her father still kicks the ball around, having played soccer as a boy with his father!
Soccer is a serious sport but it's also a lot of fun, especially when the family can be involved. Michele's husband loves the game and is an assistant coach on Aiden's team. And Michele's father, Luis, spends a lot of time training and teaching Aiden all kinds of soccer skills and tricks.
Aiden practices during the week, but it's on the weekends that the whole family joins in. They practice at home or at an indoor facility if the weather is bad. Michele loves that they are a soccer family because it means they can all be together and not in front of a computer. She likes to play herself sometimes, but her real role is that of number one cheerleader. She, of course, gets them all where they are going, makes sure they have the gear they need and provides snacks to keep them happy.
Empanadas are as much a part of the Padilla's heritage as is soccer, so when we came up with this Kellogg's Frosted Flakes Apple-Flax Empanadas recipe, everyone was thrilled.
Meet the Padilla's in this short video and learn how to make these delicious empanadas for your active family. They'll love you for it.
