According to the FDA, nSpired Natural Foods has voluntarily decided to recall several natural nut butters as a precautionary measure warning families that they could contain the foodborne illness. Parents should be wary of nut butter products packaged in glass and plastic jars with best-by dates ranging from December 2014 to July 2015.
This only includes specific nut butter products that are sold in natural food stores like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Safeway, Kroger and online. Some of the organic brands include MaraNatha and Arrowhead Mills. The food distributor has provided a complete list of these recalled butter nut products to the public.
Consumers are being asked to get rid of any products that potentially fall in these categories. People ingesting Salmonella-infected foods are more common than you may think. The CDC reports that nearly 48 million people are poisoned by Salmonella each year. Once infected, the symptoms that flair up can include: vomiting, abdominal pain, fever and diarrhea.
This is the perfect excuse to reorganize your pantry and make sure your family is in the clear.
