I'm a woman who loves to shop. I'm also a woman who loves to score a deal. I'm also my mother's daughter and my mother inspired a love of garage sales and thrift store shopping in me. Segundiando for me is so much fun. The opportunity to score some awesome deals is increased when you are buying second hand, but let's be honest: There are some things that maybe you would be better off buying new, like chonies. I don't care how cheap them used chonies are, there isn't water hot enough that will clean them back to new, no gracias.
So, no, I wouldn't recommend that you buy used chonies, but there are some items that you should never feel guilty about buying used, so if you find yourself on the fence about them, I'm here to push you off the fence and say, "Go on, buy them!"

Wood furniture

Solid wood furniture is the best! It's so much better than particle board or composite or some other nonsense. If you can score a deal on it second hand, do it! Even if you don't like the color or finish, you can always repaint or refinish it later. Do you now how expensive solid wood furniture is new?
Silverware

Whether they are actual silver or stainless steel, you can buy used utensils because they are easy to clean and you can use them without worry.
Glassware

Glassware is also something that can be easily washed and used as if it were new. I find that one benefit of collecting mismatched glassware is that when you have a party it is so much easier for guests to know which drink is theirs if all the glasses aren't the same.
Dishes

Ceramic dishes or mugs are another great second hand score. Do not go for used plastic because that's yuck, but the hard ceramic plates are great and you can currate your own eclectic chic collection.
Jewelry

I've found some great pieces of jewelry at thrifts stores. I love big rings and most of the ones I own are from thrift stores.
Cast iron

Cast iron that is already cured for you? Score! That patina is awesome when cooking time comes around, just ask your abuela.
