How much would you pay for one amazing grilled cheese?! Most of us probably would say no more than a few bucks, especially since it's so easy for anyone to make at home. But one Chicago restaurant is looking to revamp your image of the classic grilled cheese with its new limited edition of the dish … which costs a cool $100.
I know what you're thinking–100 bucks for a grilled cheese? What's in there, gold? Well, actually, there is.

The exclusive, ultra cheesy culinary creation, is being served now at Deca, a restaurant located inside Chicago's Ritz Carlton hotel. The restaurant brought out the dish just for the month of April, which just happens to be National Grilled Cheese Month. And to be honest, it sounds totally delicious.
According to Time mag, the sandwich consists of artisan country sourdough bread, Iberico ham, 100-year-old aged balsamic vinegar, white truffle aioli, foie gras, and a sunny side up duck egg. The kicker? The 40-year aged Wisconsin cheddar is infused with 24-carat gold flakes. Crazy, right?
But while the price tag is a little steep for most people, general manager John Gurgone says the restaurant has already sold around 10 or 12 of them. Guess they must REALLY like grilled cheese!
And this is hardly the first restaurant to put a big price tag on an old dish. Check out some more of the most expensive dishes in the world below:

Dougie hot dog

When DougieDog owner Dougie Luv set out to make the world's most expensive hot dog, he decided to infuse the foot-long bratwurst with 100-year-old Louis XIII cognac and topped with fresh lobster, picante sauce and Kobe beef seared in olive and truffle oil. The hotdogs require 12 hours notice to make, although Luv says he usually keeps three on hand just in case. Each one costs $100.
Barclay Prime cheesesteak

Stephen Starr's Barclay Primse restaurant makes the Philadelphia cheesesteak extra fancy with wage ribeye cut down with foie gras and topped with truffled homemade fontina cheese on a sesame roll. It also comes with a glass of Dom Perignon 2000 for the pretty price of $100. There's no need to order it in advance.
Sweet Surrender Cupcake

The Decadence D'Or cupcake for Sweet Surrender at the Palazzo in Las Vegas was created three years ago and is made from chocolate from Venezuela's rare Porcelana Criollo bean and topped with Tahitian Gold Vanilla Caviar and edible gold flakes. It also includes Louis XIII de Remy Martin Cognac and comes in a hand blown sugar Fleur-de-Lis. How much? A whopping $750–and 48 hours advance notice to make.
Serendipity Golden Opulence Sundae

The $1,000 Golden Opulence Sundae at New York's Serendipity 3 was first created in 2004 for the restaurant's 50th anniversary. It consists of three scoops of Tahitian vanilla ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla beans, topped in 23K edible gold leaf, sprinkled with a couple of expensive and rare chocolates. Oh and there's the candied fruits, gold dragets, chocolate truffles and bowl of caviar. It's sold in a Baccarat Harcourt goblet with an 18K gold spoon, naturally. It requires 48 hours notice.
Margo's, Malta pizza

The pizzeria needs one week advance notice to make its white truffle and gold pizza, which is only available during truffle season from October through May and costs AT LEAST €1,800, or about $2,420.
Fleur burger

The Fleur Burger 5000 at Las Vegas restaurant Fleur comes topped with seared foie gras and truffles on a brioche truffle bun. But what really adds to the $5,000 price tag? It also comes a bottle of 1995 Chateau Petrus wine and the two crystal stemware glasses that the restaurant delivers to the home of anyone who orders the burger. No advance notice necessary.
Ono drink

The XS Nightclub at Encore Las Vegas has its own $10,000 drink, the Ono, which is a cocktail made from Charles Heidsieck Champagne Charlie 1981 and Louis XIII de Remy Martin Black Pearl cognac. AND it comes with a pair of men's silver cufflinks and a woman's 18K white-gold chain with a black pearl pendant! That's one fancy cocktail!
