5 Cakes that will haunt your dreams

I've seen crazy cakes before but none can compare to this latest gem. A San Francisco artist decided to surprise her boyfriend for his birthday with a homemade cake. It wasn't a regular 'ol funfetti cake either. Vicky Knoop has something more elaborate and SCARIER in mind.

She decided to make a cake that resembled the character "Split Face" from the 1982 sci-fi movie The Thing. Holy crap is that thing terrifying!

It took Knoop two and a half days to make the cake and she used fondant and Rice Krispies treats to create the masterpiece. As you can tell it is so well done and scary that she says it left most of the party guests shocked. "One friend mentioned she was a bit queasy for that part. But after that, people said that the cake was super delicious, so in the end, it's really just a dessert," Knoop said.

the thing

The artist detailed step-by-step how she made the cake on her personal blog, and lets just say you have to be skilled to make something like this. It reminds me of the cake I made for my boyfriend's birthday that was something unlike I'd made before. It also took me a couple of days with the help of friend who has experience with baking elaborate desserts.

If you thought Knoop's cake was crazy, wait till you see these other amazing and (some) disgusting ones out there!

This couple took their wedding day so seriously that they made the cake to prove their love for each other. The problem was it was so gruesome with the two headless people that I don't know if guests could stomach eating from it.

A Pinterest user thought it would be a great idea to make this cake for her friend's baby shower. I just didn't expect that she would make one of a baby's head popping out of a woman's vagina.

When I made this cake for my boyfriend, I decided to challenge myself by creating his favorite dinosaur (Ankylosaurus). I brought in the help of my friend Beth, who is a baker and it took about two days to complete. Check out our step-by-step process on her blog, It's Always Someone's Birthday.

An angry cake maker Micaela Harris wanted a bride's sister to know how she really felt about her. The twosome got into an argument in the past and as a result Micaela sent her a poop cake. That's a creative way to tell someone to "eat" … well, you know.
