Hummus is one of those spreads that Latinos tend to shy away from if they are unfamiliar with it. The Mediterranean dip is made out of chick peas and generally consists of lemon, olive oil, garlic, and tahini sauce. It is ideal for dipping veggies in and pita bread.
Some people even take it to the next level and use it in place of mayonnaise in their sandwiches. Hummus partners well with many foods and the best part is we can even add our Latino flavor to it!

Take it from the girl who makes her own hummus at home and has even made it into dessert (that's a whole different story–and yes, it was delicious). If you ever check out the hummus section in the supermarket then you know there is everything from Tuscan to jalapeño flavored.
One of my favorite things about hummus is that it's so easy to make that you can create your own versions at home. All you need is a food processor and you're good to go. Check out these Latin-style hummus recipes below and try them out today!
