Americans eat a ton of food a year...literally!

According to the USDA's Economic Research Service, the average American ate 1,966 pounds of food in 2011–almost a full ton! Unbelievable!
Almonds aren't part of the nut family

Lots of people might mistake almonds for part of the nut family, but they're actually a hard-shelled fruit from the almond tree, which is part of the same family of trees that produces peaches, plums and cherries!
Honey never expires

That's right..NEVER! It might crystalize or change in color over the years, but it'll never go bad.
Peanut butter may have insects in it

It's gross, but the FDA has confirmed that there's "an average of 30 OR MORE insect fragments per 100 grams" and an "average of one OR MORE rodent hairs per 100 grams." Supposedly, it's important to the "aesthetic." Yuck!
Cheese isn't ALWAYS vegeterian

Parmigian cheese and many cheeses are actually made with animal rennet, an enzyme that comes from the stomachs of animals like cows and goats, so they're not vegeterian, like some might think.
There will always be an even amount of rows on the ear of a corn

It has something to do with the fact that kernels come from pollinated flowers, which always occur in pairs. If you try counting the rows, you should rarely get anything other than an even number!
