As a soon-to-be-parent, you may choose not to find out the sex of your baby, or even if you do, you could decide that when it comes to the nursery you'd rather forgo traditional pinks and blues and stick to something more neutral that can grow with your child. But the makers of all things baby tend to be a little gender obsessed, so it can be difficult to outfit a non-traditional room or a room for multiples of both sexes.

But with a bit of ingenuity and focus, it is possible to create a gorgeous abode for your baby. Below you'll find some great ideas to get you started.
Pick the Right Colors
Think outside the box when it comes to choosing colors. You've already decided against pink and blue, but that doesn't mean you have to go with yellow and green. How about grey and orange, shades of cream, mint and gold or gentle earthtones?
Go With a Theme...Or Don't
You don't have to marry yourself to a theme, but if you do, it doesn't have to be all or nothing. You can create a subtle theme by taking a vintage-inspired approach as seen in this beautiful circus-themed nursery. You can even take a few key pieces that you really love, and simply incorporate them into a non-themed room.
Don't Under-do It
The last thing you want is for your baby's room to be a replica of your living room, so even if you choose to stick with beige walls and brown linens, make sure you follow through. You want the nursery to look like a cozy place for a baby, so be sure to pay attention to details. Hang baby-friendly prints, strategically place a few stuffed friends, have a toy corner or a reading nook.
When in Doubt, Go Bold
Kids are fun, and you can't go wrong with a room that reflects that. So if you can't come up with a theme or specific color palate that you adore, just be bold. Have no fear when it comes to your selections, after all, you'll probably be redecorating in a few years anyway. And at least for a little while, your baby won't have much of an opinion either way.
