Okay, chili is yummy all year long. In the winter it warms you up and provides comfort and in the summer it just keeps things hot enough.
I love the idea of making a pot of slow cooker chili that you can serve at a 4th of July party. It's perfect because you can make it ahead of time and serve it with various grilled items if you are grilling.

Think of the chili possibilities: chili dog, chili burger, a bowl of chili with some yummy Mexican elote. Nice, right?
If you are somewhere where an electrical outlet is available (I have one in my backyard), you can leave the chili in the slow cooker and plugged in on low so that the chili stays warm.
Slow Cooker Chili
Ingredients
1 pound ground sirloin
1 onion, chopped
1 can (15 ounces) fat-free chicken broth
1 can (10 1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes and green chiles
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1 dash ground cinnamon
Salt and pepper to taste
1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
