When I was a child and my grandmother was still around, she used to repurpose empty coffee cans for all sorts of things. She'd turn them into planters, alcancías, vases, kitchen utensil holders, and any number of other things. I suppose she was ahead of her time with the whole repurposing thing, but it probably had to do more with living a lifetime of never letting one single thing go to waste.

Seriously, my grandmother could have opened up a store with all of her repurposed coffee can creations. I'm not sure that anyone would have bought any of them, but they would have stopped in just to take a look at what a little ingenuity can produce. Oh, and she never would have had to buy bags for the store because she always had carefully folded plastic bags from her shopping trips stored in…what else? A coffee can!
At the time, I did not appreciate her mad DIY skills, I was just sick of seing those coffee cans all over the place.
Little did I know that if I would have just gone out and bought her a few trifle dishes, she could have used them in place of the empty coffee that always ended up rusting.
Here are five easy to style a trilfe bowl using The Cellar Trifle Dish ($22, available at Macy's).

Terrarium
I love terrariums and probably would have never thought of using a trifle dish for one on me own.
Tiramisu
Don't forget that you can actually use a trifle bowl for it's original intention of making layered edible yumminess.
