Delicious easy to make key lime pie (RECIPE)

The classic key lime pie as we know it in Florida,__ doesn't come with cream or meringue, or almonds or anything other than eggs, condensed milk and juice and zest of the limes produced in the sunny South Florida Keys. But as in the kitchen we own what we prepare, this time I decorated my pie with whipped cream, chopped almonds and slices of lime.

This recipe is not of my own but Joe's, a restaurant in Miami where they serve the best crab legs in the world and where the best key lime pie in on Earth. We all love it in my family and this is why I'm sharing the recipe. I hope you like it.

Key Lime Pie

Makes 8 servings

Ingredients:

1 Graham cracker pie crust

3 egg yolks

1 ½ tablespoon grated lime peel

1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)

2/3 cup fresh lime juice

1 can of whipped cream (optional)

1/2 cup slivered almonds (optional)

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350 ° F.

In a bowl beat the eggs and lime zest at high speed for about 5 minutes.

Gradually add the condensed milk and continue whisking for 3-4 minutes until the mixture thickens.

Reduce mixer speed and add the lime juice and stir for a minute.

Put the mixture into the crust and bake for 15 minutes.

Let cool and freeze for 20-30 minutes.

Before serving decorate with cream and slivered almonds.
