How to pick the perfect Christmas tree (VIDEOS)

It's the weekend after Thanksgiving and if your town is anything like my town, you're probably already seeing Christmas tree stands all around. With turkey leftovers and Black Friday solidly behind us, it's time to start thinking about the next big Holiday: CHRISTMAS! And what's the first thing you do when it comes to this Holiday? Why, pick out a tree to start the decorating, of course! At least that's pretty much my entire plan for the rest of the weekend.

There are basically two kinds of Christmas trees that you can pick from: artificial trees or real Christmas trees. Which one you choose comes down to personal choice, of course, but there are definitely some advantages and disadvantages to both.

When it comes to artificial Christmas trees, the nice thing is that they will last a long time, you don't have to worry about watering them and you can pick one in a fun, funky color if that's your thing. Watch the video, below, to learn the right way to pick a fake Christmas tree–but keep in mind that the big disadvantages to this kind of tree is having to find storage space for it and not getting that fresh tree smell that I personally love.

Then there's real Christmas trees. What I love about these is that they smell great, filling the house with warm memories of Holidays of the past, and there are some cool, interesting varieties of real trees. They may not come in funky colors, but there ARE big differences between a Douglas Fir or a Blue Spruce. The bad thing about them, though, is that you have to remember to water them once in a while and cleanup (so many pine needles!) is NEVER a fun experience. Still, there is something very special about a real tree–and you can learn how to pick the perfect one with this video.
