The minute that summer starts, I start reaching for a sangria. Is there really a better summer drink than the refreshing, fruity taste of a white or red wine sangria? I don't think there is. But lately I've been serving up basically the same old sangria that everyone else does: peaches or strawberries for white, oranges and cherries for red. These are classic for a reason, but this year I want to try something else. That's why this Memorial Day weekend I'm making these three delicious versions: tropical pineapple mango sangria, sparkling pink grapefruit sangria, and spicy red sangria. They're just as satisfying as the original but made even better.

Tropical Pineapple Mango Sangria (recipe courtesy of Raley's)
Ingredients
1 cup pineapple juice
½ cup lime juice
1 (11½-ounce) can mango nectar
⅓ cup sugar
1 (750 mL) bottle fruity white wine
1½ cups lime-flavored sparkling water or Champagne
Lime slices, peeled pineapple, and mango slices
Directions
Stir together juices, sugar, and wine until sugar has dissolved. Place all ingredients, except sparkling water or Champagne, in pitcher or jug and chill until ready to serve. Just before serving, add sparkling water or Champagne. Pour over ice-filled glasses and garnish with fruit slices.
Sparkling Pink Grapefruit Sangria (recipe courtesy of uFoodz)
Ingredients
1 bottle red wine
1 cup pink grapefruit juice
1 cup pineapple juice
8 ounces peaches, sliced
8 ounces blueberries
8 ounces strawberries, halved
3 cups sparkling Italian soda
Directions
Combine the wine, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice, peaches, blueberries, and strawberries in a punch bowl or a large pitcher. Refrigerate overnight. Right before serving, add the sparkling soda, and stir to combine.
Spicy Red Sangria (recipe courtesy of The Spruce Eats)
Ingredients
1 bottle of red wine (consider a malbec from Argentina to fit the spicy palate theme well!)
1 chili pepper or jalapeño (seeds removed and diced)
1 lime, cut into wedges
1 lemon, cut into wedges
1 orange, cut into wedges
1 mango, diced into cubes
½ cup honey or sugar
2 teaspoons Cholula hot sauce
1 shot rum
2 cups citrus-flavored cola (for those who prefer a little less sweet, use a bottle of club soda)
Directions
Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lime, lemon, and orange into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds, if possible), and add diced mango, honey/sugar, rum, and hot sauce to the mix. Chill overnight. Add citrus soda or club soda just before serving. If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice.
