3 delicious ways to use Tapatio hot sauce on their 40th anniversary

Hot sauce is a staple in many Latino households. My Cuban family was never really into it, but whenever I go out for Mexican, I make sure to have a little bit on top of my burrito or tacos. My all-time favorite is Tapatio hot sauce and, now that they're celebrating over 40 years on the market, I wanted to try making something more unusual with it.

It turned out that they have some great recipes on their website. Wanting to make a full meal using the hot sauce, I immediately gravitated toward the pico de gallo recipe for an appetizer, the spicy chili cheese shrimp over linguine for a main meal and then the popcorn with Tapatio for a post-dinner movie snack. The best part? They're as easy as they are spicy.

Popcorn with Tapatio

Ingredients:
1 Bag of Microwave Popcorn
1/2 cup of cheddar cheese, grated
Tapatio Hot Sauce

Directions:
First, finely grate the cheddar cheese. Then microwave the popcorn. Place half of the popcorn in a big bowl, sprinkle half of the cheese and add Tapatio Hot Sauce to your liking. Repeat process. Great for parties!!

Pico de Gallo

Ingredients:
Oranges, peeled (including white pith)
Cucumbers, peeled
Jicama, peeled
Lemon
Salt
Tapatío Hot Sauce

Directions:
Prepare ingredients: section the orange and cut in halves, lengthwise, to have bite- sized pieces. Slice cucumbers in 1/3 inch slices. Dice Jicama in 3/4 inch cubes. Combine prepared ingredients in a big bowl. Add lemon, salt and Tapatio Hot Sauce.

Spicy Chili Cheese Shrimp

Ingredients:
2 dozen large shrimp, peeled and deveined
Salt to taste
2 ounces cheddar cheese
2/3 cup dairy sour cream
Tapatio Hot Sauce for spicy flavor
1 can tomato sauce
1 package linguine

Directions:
Begin by cooking linguine in a large pot of boiling salted water until tender but still firm to bite, stirring occasionally.  While linguine is cooking combine salt, cheddar cheese, sour cream, Tapatio Hot Sauce, and tomato sauce in a bowl. While mixing, taste for spiciness. Sautee contents of bowl in a pan for approximately 5 minutes until mixture heats up, add shrimp. Drain linguine. Serve chili cheese shrimp mixture over bed of linguine.
