Beyoncé has been serving looks since the 1990s. At first, her mom, Tina Knowles-Lawson, used to create the looks Bey and the members of Destiny's Child would wear to events and in their music videos. The singer was given the Fashion Icon Award at the 2016 CFDA Fashion Awards and she thanked her mom for making fashion a part of her life since she was born.
"When we were starting out in Destiny's Child, high-end labels, they didn't really want to dress four black country curvy girls," Beyoncé said during her acceptance speech. "And we couldn't afford designer dresses and couture. My mother was rejected from every showroom in New York. But like my grandmother, she used her talent and her creativity to give her children their dreams."
