Jennifer Lopez is about to make history as the first Latina ever to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. Not only has she been delivering the most incredible music videos for the past 20 years, but she's also been attending the award show through the years serving some incredible looks.
Jen's fashion choices tend to become not only iconic but also a gigantic part of pop culture. So much so that the green Versace dress that she wore to the Grammys in 2000 is the reason why we have Google images! The singer's looks have ranged from sexy to chic and some have also been super casual and down to earth. Remember the white pants and crop top with the bandana look? That whole outfit is engraved in our memories! Most recently, she wore a barely there sparkling silver gown in 2014 that was to die for. The cutoffs on the dress showed off how incredibly in shape she is–and she looked amazing.

J.Lo first started attending the MTV show in 1998–when she wore quite the interesting outfit–and has been a part of it ever since. She has been transforming in front of our eyes, not only with her style but also as an entertainer. Now, her career as a singer and performer is about to be celebrated in front of millions of people in what will be a historic moment for not just her, but for all Latinos.
Jen will receive her award on Monday, August 20, and will no doubt leave everyone in awe when she shows up on the red carpet in what will definitely be a showstopping look. J.Lo will also be taking the stage so there's no doubt she will be doing various outfit changes throughout the night. This outfit she wore to the 1998 VMAs is, um, interesting.
Mark Wahlberg posted this throwback of them together on his Facebook in 2014 and captioned it: "#TBT with J-Lo at the '98 VMAs." Jen was dressed head to toe in a cream leather outfit and paired it with a matching cowboy hat.
J.Lo wore a high slit on the red carpet in 1999 alongside her then-beau, Diddy.
We love the glamour of that sparkling gold top paired with the edgy black leather skirt.

Jen showed up to the VMAs in the year 2000 alongside her then-boyfriend P. Diddy. She was rocking an all white ensemble, with a crop top showing her abs and matching low-rise white jeans. She wore a white bandana on her head and the look has been recreated on Halloween every year since.

It's no wonder her skin looks fantastic. Jen said one of her tricks for staying young was to stay out of the sun in her 20s and 30s and she did just that at the 2004 VMAs, which took place at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.

After it was announced that she would be the recepient for the Vanguard Award, Jenny appeared on TRL and discussed her favorite looks.
She said the white outfit was her favorite.
"I think the white jeans and the bandana," she said. "It's so right. I was really surprised that night that I won for 'I'm real.'"
She's been hard at work preparing for her performance.
