5 Ways to treat pesky chicken skin, aka keratosis pilaris

I've been struggling with keratosis pilaris, also known as chicken skin, for the past few winters now. I blame climate change. These pesky, patchy bumps (that resemble intense goosebumps) tend to show up on certain areas of the body when the weather is cold and brutal out, similar to Eczema. Unlike most body scrubs, this exfoliator isn’t just physical. It’s loaded with enzymes that work deeply to polish off dead rough skin, leaving your body feeling as soft as a baby–and that’s not even an exaggeration. My skin was so smooth the first time I used this product. It felt as if someone had shaved off a top layer. To use, rub it on dry skin for a few minutes using a circular motion and then rinse off with lukewarm water before showering. If you struggle with KP, I recommend using this two to three times a week. DERMAdoctor KP Duty Dermatologist Formulated Body Scrub with Chemical + Physical Exfoliation ($46).

But don’t stress, there are more affordable options.

I noticed a drastic difference in the appearance of my bumps after I rubbed this stuff on daily immediately after showering. But don’t just use any ol’ coconut oil. Opt for one that’s organic, cold-pressed and unrefined. Viva Naturals Organic Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil 100% Pure Cold-Pressed & Unrefined ($11).
