We all know by now that washing your hair every day isn't good. This is especially the case for us curly-haired ladies, who are a lot more prone to dryness. But it's hard not to when we don't have the option of resorting to dry shampoo, like our straight-haired friends. Dry shampoo and curly hair goes totally against the ten curl commandments, right? Not exactly. Celebrity hairstylist and Dove Hair multicultural expert, Cynthia Alvarez claims it's all about how you use dry shampoo. She showed us how to use it to freshen up hair and instantly boost volume without disturbing your curl pattern.

According to Alvarez, dry shampoo doesn't discriminate by hair type. It can handle supercurly and even coily hair. You just have to use it right.

Alvarez recommends making sure to shake the dry shampoo can very well to get all the powders fully blended. Next, make sure to hold the spray far enough away from your head, aiming directly at the roots. You don't want to get any of the powder on the mid-section or ends of your curls because that would just be a hot mess.
You want to then turn your head upside down and gently massage just the roots using your fingers tips. There you have it: fresh voluminous curls! Alvarez suggests opting for a lightweight dry shampoo that's not going to weigh down hair. Try Dove Refresh + Care Unscented Dry Shampoo ($5).
It's the perfect solution for when you need to refresh curls after an intense workout session at the gym. I know, you know what I'm talking about.
