Start anti-aging young.

“I was around 20 years old when my mom encouraged me to start a dedicated skincare routine. She always recommend to wash my face with a gentle cleanser, followed by a toner, serum and always a moisturizer that contains at least SPF 30. Years later and folks still confuse me for a 20-year-old. Thanks mom!” – Johanna Ferreira, Beauty and Lifestyle Staff Writer
Never leave the house without lipstick.

“My beauty tip is from my abuelita — who passed away a couple of years ago and lived to be 100 years old. She taught me to NEVER leave the house without lipstick. She said it didn’t matter if I wore no other makeup at all, putting some color on my lips would not only make me look put together, but would also make me happier instantly. Amazingly, I never saw her without lipstick and whenever I close my eyes and think of her, which is often, I see her holding her little lipstick case with a mirror applying lipstick after eating!” – Roxana A. Soto, Content Lab Editor
Don’t skip toner.

“My mother taught me to use aqua maravilla (witch hazel) as a toner. I did it all through high school and I never had problematic skin.” – Sugey Palomares, Staff Writer
Clean beauty is everything.

“As a child, I used to watch my mom do her makeup for special occasions. I remember being fascinated by the process and loved watching her play with colors, brushes, sponges … she was not one to overdo it, but rather knew exactly how much was just right. My mom was beautiful! She taught me to love the art of using makeup to bring out the best in you. Her best beauty tips? Never go to sleep with makeup on. Finally she believed good hygiene looks beautiful on anyone, but clean hair, nails and skin are a must for everyone. –Johanna Torres, Editor-In-Chief
Moisturizer is key.

“My mom always told me moisturizer is the key to youth – and not just on my face! Every day, after showering, my mom is insistent I should slather on moisturizing cream everywhere – legs, arms, and especially neck and décolletage! –Yuliana Gomez, Managing Editor
