Beyonce’s stylist Zerina Akers shares 5 genius style tips for every busy mom

As a busy mom, fashion fails to make it on the top of my priority list most of the time. Sometimes it's all the way at the bottom next to organizing my closet and cleaning up before the familia comes over for a "drive by" visit. Nonetheless, I still want to look as effortless and beautiful as my pre-mom days–especially when a new season turns the corner. I was recently lucky enough to get a makeover from Beyonce's personal stylist Zerina Akers and she shared her style tips for busy moms-on-the-go. Let me share the priceless takeaways!

I met Akers at an event for Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant. During our session, she picked out five outfits for me that were vibrant, colorful and form-fitting. My only issue? The form-fitting part. Since having my son in 2015, I'm not that confident about my mid-section. I decided to let the expert lead and picked a beautiful multi-colored lace collar dress.

"As a stylist, my ideal is to celebrate real beauty, which is why I partnered with Dove. I want my client to leave feeling confident and beautiful," she shared. Mission more than accomplished! I felt like a completely new woman in this outfit.

I was ready to slay and you can too with these quick style tips I learned.

– Throw over a nice trench: "A nice soft trench that has a belt always works. When left open, the panels can minimize your hips. You can wear jeans with them or wear it with a skirt to the office. That's one of my favorite key items."

– Accessorize, accessorize: "A mom-on-the-go needs accessories, for sure. You can keep your outfit simple and classic, but give your look more of a pop with the right accessory. It's all about a balance of space."

– Don't be afraid of color: "Color can really add a completely different personality to a look. Go for matching contrasting colors you wouldn't think normally go together. Bonus–Dove's new Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant leaves no white marks on 100 colors, which is perfect for moms on the go who won't have to worry about those frustrating stains ruining an outfit."

– Skirt length matters if you're petite: "Go for pencil skirts that are a little bit above the knee. It will elongate you."

-It's okay to skip certain trends: "Sometimes you really have to work with your body and just forgo whatever trend is out there."
