#Oscars2017: The 16 best & worst dressed on the red carpet

I have to admit, when it comes to fashion the last couple of award shows haven't left me that impressed. But the stars really brought their A-game at the 89th Annual Academy Awards. There was everything from glamorous metallic numbers, classic velvet, lace and a fun mix of high fashion by new designers. From Emma Stone to Salma Hayek, here's a look at some of the best–and worst–dressed of the night!

More from MamásLatinas: 20 Times Latinas totally slayed on the Oscar's red carpet

Salma Hayek looked hot in that little black dress.

She showed up in a lacey, cleavage-baring (of course!) Alexander McQueen gown that showed a subtle but sexy amount of skin. This was not your average LBD.

Emma Stone dressed like she knew she was going to win.

The actress who took home an Oscar for best actress for her performance in the musical La La Land, wore a gold Givenchy Haute Couture gown that screamed Old Hollywood glamour. I love the way her hanging earrings complemented the dress’s fringed detail.

Halle Berry practically shut down the Oscars in that custom Atelier Versace gown.

The intricate embellishments complemented Berry’s hourglass-shaped figure and her natural curls served as the best accessory.

Jessica Biel dressed like an Oscar at THE Oscars.

That form-fitted gold sequined gown was everything, and that dramatic diamond and gold choker necklace made a serious fashion statement.

Dakota Johnson’s gold Gucci dress was classic.

Everything about this number was timeless from the high neck to the flattering cascading bow accent at the waist.

Taraji P. Henson slayed in that blue velvet gown.

The Hidden Figures star looked like a total knockout in that Alberto Ferreti dress that featured a sophisticated thigh-high slit and perfectly hugged her curves. Well done!

Lin-Manuel Miranda and his mom worked it.

Lin-Manuel Miranda who was nominated for his song in Moana, reminded us why we love him so much when he decided to bring his mother as his Oscar Awards date.  Apparently he got his tux at San Marko in Yonkers, New York, where he got his prom tux back in 1998 and managed to make it look like a million bucks.  His mami wore a black and white gown paired with black satin gloves that looked like something Audrey Hepburn would have easily worn.

Charlize Theron looked luminous in that gold lamé Dior gown

The metallic dress was stunning and figure-flattering but those diamond Chopard earrings, though.

Blanca Blanco’s dress was a red carpet disaster.

Not only did the bright gold gown with huge puff sleeves look like an 80s prom dress gone terribly wrong, but apparently she also experienced a huge wardrobe malfunction that resulted in her private parts going on complete display. Seriously, what was she thinking?

Janelle Monáe looked like a goddess in an Elie Saab Haute Couture gown.

It featured layers of tulle, bead, sequins and even crystals! I love the way she paired it with that bejeweled headband. It was total perfection.

Nicole Kidman’s embellished Armani Prive gown was lovely.

But the nude shade really washed her fair complexion out.

Ruth Negga worked that custom Valentino lace dress.

The actress who was nominated for her role in Loving looked stunning in that ruby-colored dress that perfectly popped against her tan complexion. The Neuwirth crown and hanging earrings really completed the Victoria-inspired look.

Scarlet Johansson really missed the mark.

Everything about that Alaïa gown felt too busy from the sheer pink prints to that chunky belt. This was definitely NOT her best look.

Karlie Kloss’s white Stella McCartney gown was stunning.

The cape detailing reminded us a lot of that white Tom Ford number Gwyneth Paltrow rocked at the 2013 Academy Awards. Remember that?

Olivia Culpo’s custom Marchesa gown was breathtaking but also helped a good cause.

The blue-ish grey number was also created to help fund clean drinking water for people around the world. "It’s in partnership with Stella Artois and Water.org. Stella Artois created chalices, and every chalice sold give years of clean drinking water to someone in the developing world,” she told Ryan Seacrest live from the red carpet.

Felicity Jones looked like a beautiful ballerina.

That full-skirted Dior gown looked like something only princess or stunning dancers at the ballet would wear and she perfectly pulled it off.
