Why is it more popular than ever?
“With busy schedules and limited time for personal care, women have been seeking ways to treat their skin at home,” says Fry. “Face masks are the perfect addition to any skincare regimen as you can get amazing results in little time in the comfort of your own home.” Not only is it ideal for the busy girl (or mom) on the go, but apparently it's Instagram-friendly, too. “The popularity of social media and constant desire to share what’s going on in our lives has impacted beauty and how we seek information," Fry adds. "Women want to see what other women are using and people are proud to share how they treat their skin and what products they use and love.”
How often should we be masking?
“Mask usage depends on the needs of your skin. What’s great about masking is that there are multitude of formats and benefits to meet every skin need,” says Fry. “Multi-masking [also known as mask bingeing] is a great way to ensure you are treating your skin and allows you to use different masks together to treat a variety of issues.” Fry explains how a detoxifying or oil control mask can be used to treat the T-zone while a deeply hydrating mask can be used to moisturize cheeks at the same time. “This can be switched up based on what you need but allows you to find the right combination while saving extra time," she adds. "Doing this a couple times a week will greatly improve the health of your skin.”
What’s a splash mask?
“Splash masks are a growing trend as they answer the need for intense results in very little time,” says Fry. “While masking is beneficial to the skin, most mask formats require users to dedicate extra time to their skincare routine throughout the week. Splash masks are a great alternative when crunched for time as they offer instant results in seconds. Due to the high concentrations of ingredients and customizable formats, users see the benefits quickly without wasting any precious time.” Need a quick pick-me-up? Try boscia Tsubaki Splash Mask ($38).
