Jennifer Lopez helped Khloe Kardashian love her big butt

The Kardashian-Jenner family has practically built an empire out of their reality show, their strong social media presence, and of course, their looks. And when I say looks, I'm not talking just luxe lashes, perfectly contoured faces, and thick hair. These ladies, especially Kim, Khloe and these days Kylie, have been praised for their curvy bodies. But Khloe claims it was Jennifer Lopez who gave her the confidence to own and love her big butt.

Growing up, Khloe struggled to find women in television, film or magazines with body types like hers. "It's so interesting because when I was growing up heroin chic was the really cool thing," she told Elle.com. "And there was Kate Moss. And she was gorgeous, but I was like, 'I don't indentify with that body.' "

Seeing Jennifer Lopez on the big screen for the first time helped her become more comfortable with her curvier shape. "When Jennifer Lopez did Selena, I was like, 'Oh my God.' It was so relatable for me and my sisters," she said. "But at the time it was really only her. I don't remember a lot of other really strong women at the head of pop culture at that time. And now looking back at J.Lo there were so many girls with way bigger butts, but that was what we had. It's important to me, no matter what size I am or weight I am, to feel beautiful."

Khloe finally loving and embracing her curves is what inspired Good American, a new denim line she co-founded with business partner Emme Grede. The line which was launched just a day ago on Nordstrom, consists of jeans made from stretchy fabric designed to fit and flatter curvier shapes. It also comes in a wide selection of sizes from 0 to 24.

"That's what I think Good American is. It's about women of individuality and diversity, but also about being comfortable in yourself," says Khloe. "That what we're trying to promote. It's not about fitting into a size two and that's what makes you beautiful. I just want people to be healthy and love who they are and be in control of life. But that doesn't mean you have to be a size six."

Funny thing is, the same way J.Lo helped the Kardashians to love their curves, the Kardashians have also helped a lot of women love their own bodies. "There's been a shift in pop culture in what we find beautiful," says Grede. "Khloe, for me, was somebody who really epitomized that. She's somebody who, regardless of size, you feel this confidence in her. Khloe –and the rest of her family– are very responsible for the reason we all find curvy bodies really, really beautiful."
