I have naturally long and thick eyelashes. The kind that with one swipe of mascara looks like I'm wearing falsies. So just imagine how freaked out I was when I noticed my lashes thinning out. I made the mistake of wearing waterproof mascara almost every day this summer and my poor lashes are paying big time for it. The good news is that lashes grow back. Instead of crying, I decided to be proactive about this. Check out my plan below.

My lashes before they started falling out
Here’s a picture of my lashes with two to three layers of waterproof mascara. Don’t they look amazing? This was before they started thinning out later this summer.
My lashes now
Fortunately, they're still thick and long but a lot thinner than before. I get depressed just thinking about it.
No more waterproof mascara
I’m not going to do away with them all together but I’m going to try to not use them on regular basis and opt for regular formulas that are moisturizing, like Tarte Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara ($21).
I won’t use mascara every day
This is one of the hardest parts of this journey, but I’m really going to push myself to not wear mascara every day especially the days where I don’t have evening plans.
I will use castor oil
A lot of people swear by castor oil to help thicken and lengthen eyelashes. So I plan on applying a thin layer to mine every night before bed. The vitamin E supposedly helps strengthen, nourish and moisturize lashes.
I will go back to taking vitamins
I will be taking the Phytophanere Dietary Supplement ($60) every day until I notice a significant difference. It contains everything from vitamins B, C, A, and E, Omegas 3, calcium, biotin and other ingredients that help promote hair growth and lengthen lashes.
