Orange is the New Black star Dascha Polanco was looking as fierce at the show's season 4 premiere yesterday in New York City. The star rocked a sleek ponytail with gold leaf detailing. What a fun way to remix a classic hairstyle! Celebrity stylist Cynthia Alvarez gave us the low-down about how she created this whimsical look and how you can recreate it at home.

Step 1: Use a hair oil to control frizz and shine. "To obtain this look, I started by applying the Dove Regenerative Nourishment Serum-In-Oil to her damp hair from roots to ends," Alvarez explained.
Step 2: Blow dry your hair in small sections, making sure the hairdryer nozzle is pointed downward to flatten the roots. "Once her hair was completely dry, I used a flat iron on the ends," she added.
Step 3: Align the deep side part with the arch of your brow (this placement is the most flattering) and gathered the hair into a low ponytail. Once secured with a ponytail holder, take small pieces of loose hair and wrap it around the base to hide the ponytail holder and then pin into place.
Step 4: Prepare for the gold! "I applied a thin layer of gel to her part and the base of the ponytail. Using the open end of a bobby pin, I broke off small pieces of the foil and placed them directly onto the gel." She added, "It can get tricky as the gold can be delicate and sticks to everything so I made sure my placement was deliberate. I repeated the same steps for the base of the ponytail."
Step 5: Set and forget it. "To set the gold foil in place, I finished the look off with the Dove Style + Care Flexible Hold Hairspray," Alvarez said.
