10 Ways to protect your skin this winter

We can all agree that cold weather is great for the hair, but terrible for the skin. With the low temperatures comes the dry, cracked, patchy skin and problems like eczema thrive in the winter. If left unattended, skin cracks, breaks and bleeds. Fortunately, there are things we can do to prevent dry, damaged skin and I'm going to tell you about these fixes. Avoid hot showers

The enemy number one of healthy skin is hot water. In the winter you have to be extra careful because the heat sucks all the moisture from your skin and leaves it dry and patchy. Shower with lukewarm water instead to protect your skin.

Ditch the soap bars

Soap bars are terrible for the skin because leaves it dry. Choose a liquid soap with vitamin E, aloe, and shea butter to shower during the winter months. You'll notice the difference right away.

Use a humidifier

Since the heat is on because it’s cold outside, you need something to moisturize the room. A humidifier is perfect to help you breathe better and prevent your skin from drying. Choose either cold or warm mist and you’ll see how beautiful your skin will look this winter.

Coconut oil

This is one of my secret weapons. I usually put coconut oil on my hands before going to bed and use it to remove my makeup. It really keeps my skin moist and I love the smell. Try it; I'm sure you are going to love it!

Body butter

It’s cold and dry outside and you have to keep your skin moist. Regular creams don't cut it! Invest in body butter and apply it right after you shower. The damp skin will seal the moisture in and you'll be protected all day.

Bath oil

You are not a fan of body creams or butters, but you know you have to do something. You are right. Try bath oils, they work really great and stay on your skin for a long time.

Moisturizing gloves

I've been wearing these gloves to bed for years during the winter time. Al you have to do is apply your favorite hand cream or coconut oil, put the gloves on and go to bed. Trust me, your hands will look young and feel soft all winter long.

Petroleum jelly

I'm sure your grandmother told you about Vaseline and all its magical benefits. You should carry a little container in your purse because it solves all your dry skin problems. It’s perfect for the skin, lips, face and even you scalp. I just LOVE it!

Moisturizer

If you are not a moisturizer person, you have to change right now because your skin wants you to. A face moisturizer is a must during the winter! Choose one with vitamin D and E and apply it generously every morning.

Fish oil

This oil comes from eating oily fish like salmon and sardines. The Omega-3 and fatty acids from fish oil protects the skin from dryness and wrinkles. Take supplements during the winter and you’ll see how amazing your skin looks. If you don’t like pills, make sure to double your fish intake. Your skin will be radiant.
