If there's one celeb whose hair is always on point, it's Sofia Vergara. Tell me I'm lying! The Modern Family star is always sporting a head full of long, luscious locks. She's got that healthy "I woke up like this" kind of hair. It's no wonder Head and Shoulders got her in all their commercials now. But unlike Kim Kardashian or Jennifer Lopez, Sofia isn't using hair supplements or extensions to get her mane long and thick. Ugh, could any of us ever be so lucky? Seriously, what's this chica's secret?

One thing for sure, Sofia is definitely putting her strands through a lot less abuse since she started embracing her natural hair color. In case, you didn't know, Sofia is a blonde! And she's gradually been going back to her true shade. "Having blonde roots with dark hair, you start looking bald!" she told Redbook magazine. "So I've been making it lighter recently, just because it's easier. When my hair was very dark, I had to dye my roots every month–it was a lot of maintenance. Now I can go two or three months between colorings."
But trust me, there's a lot more you can do to get your strands looking as fabulous as Sofia's.
But from experience, I can assure you there's a lot more you can do if you want your strands looking as fabulous as Sofia's. Thinking of growing your hair long? Here are five ways to keep your long hair healthy this fall and winter!
Don't wash your hair: Of course you need to be washing your hair, but it doesn't have to be every single day! Both over-shampooing and hot water strip hair of its natural oils, which leads to dryness, dullness and breakage. Try shampooing with a sulfate-free formula every other day, like L'Oréal Paris EverStrong Anti-Breakage Shampoo ($7). Refresh hair in between with Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo ($20).
Trim: If you want long, healthy hair then you have to make sure to schedule regular trims every six to eight weeks. You need to have damaged ends cut in order to promote growth and prevent your hair from splitting or breaking.
Do a deep mask: I don't play when it comes to taking care of my hair. I keep my strands smooth and shiny by applying a deep conditioning treatment, like Agave Restorative Hydrating Mask ($38) every single week for at least 30 minutes. It works miracles!
Chill with the hot tools: Obsessed with blow outs? You might want to chill out! Over use of hot tools could lead to extreme dryness, damage and of course breakage. Try to not to pick up the blow dryer, flat iron or curling iron more than once a week. And when you do, keep the settings low and apply a heat protectant product, like Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection Spray ($28).
Massage your scalp: Stimulate your hair follicles by massaging your scalp for at least five minutes every day. I love using a scalp massager ($2). It's a fun and relaxing way to stimulate hair growth.
