I've always been big on beauty DIY remedies. I've done it all from conditioning my hair with coconut oil, slathering my face in oatmeal and honey (to fight acne) and I also make a killer brown sugar foot scrub. But one beneficial ingredient I've never used enough is olive oil. It just always seemed so greasy to me. That is until a friend of mine convinced me to use it as a makeup remover!

I know you're probably thinking I'm loca right about now, but believe me, this stuff works! Olive oil doesn't clog pores or cause breakouts like you'd think. Instead it actually helps grab onto other oil-based products. Who would have thought, right? And it's not the only cool way you can use olive oil in your beauty routine. Check out some of its other surprising uses!
Use it to shave your legs: Call me crazy, but I actually like to slather a little bit of olive oil on my legs right before shaving. It leaves them feeling super smooth!
Use it to soften cuticles: I don't buy cuticle creams anymore. I find olive oil works better.
Use it on hair: Whenever my hair is lackluster, I mix two tablespoons of olive oil with mashed avocado and use it as a deep conditioning treatment. It leaves strands with a silky and shiny finish.
Use it on cracked heels: My feet went through hell this summer from constantly wearing chanclas. I like to keep them soft by massaging them with a DIY brown sugar and olive oil scrub and a pumice stone.
Use it for your makeup brushes: A friend of mine mentioned to me once that she washes her makeup brushes with olive oil once a month. I recommend mixing it with a little anti-bacterial soap. This helps clean out the residue while still keeping your brush hairs nice and soft.
Use it to condition lashes: Olive oil can't help you grow longer, thicker lashes like castor oil does but it can help hydrate and darken them.
