I'll be honest, I like Sofia Vergara. She's funny, she's animated and she sure as hell knows how to dress that curvaceous body of hers. But what in the world was she wearing last night? There's nothing I love more than a sexy little red dress. In fact, I truly believe that every Latina should have at least one in her closet. But Sofia was practically setting herself up for a fashion fail with this funky see-through fishnet dress. Not even fashion model Kate Moss was able to pull this trend off at the Ricardo Tisci bacchanalian birthday bash earlier this month. It's not an easy look to nail.
Everything about Sofia's red Andrew Gn evening gown bothered me, from the fishnet sections located on the tummy and thigh area to even the floor-length hem. In fact, the only thing I actually liked about it was the way it accentuated Sofia's amazing curves–that's it! And let's face it, a body like Sofia's looks good even underneath a garbage bag, but that doesn't mean she should be wearing a garbage bag on the red carpet.
I've been seeing a lot of celebs rocking fishnet styles and I'm really hoping it isn't having a moment. Even Kim Kardashian has been spotted wearing it and so has Beyonce and Katy Perry. Regardless, I'm still not about it. And sorry, but not even someone as sexy as Sofia can make this 80s trend look glamorous. Unless you want to walk around looking borderline trashy, I recommend you leave the fishnet for the bedroom!
