Your eyes are usually the first thing people notice when they look at you, so you want to make sure you have some lush-worthy lashes to go with them. Put away those falsies and hair growth serums and check out a few of my tips for faking big, fat long lashes!
1. Curl: The first thing I do before even applying mascara is curl my lashes. For years I was intimidated and straight up scared of these things, but believe me when I say they work wonders! The trick is to make sure you capture your lashes and squeeze for no less than 30 seconds. Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler ($20) is probably the best one I've ever tried. It even has soft silicone pads to protect lashes from pulling.
2. Line your eyes: I'm all about the cat-eye but when I really want my lashes to stand out, I only apply on my lower lash line using a long-lasting liner like Diorshow Liner Waterproof ($29). It adds just enough intensity to my eyes without hiding my lashes.
3. Use a lengthening and voluminizing mascara: I always opt for a mascara that's going to thicken just as much as it lengthens to create a nice, full fringe. Try Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara ($23). The hour-glass shaped brush reaches every single lash.
4. Wiggle while you work: A makeup artist friend of mine taught me a trick once to getting your lashes to look longer. She told me to apply mascara in a wiggly motion starting from the lash line and out. Trust me, this really works!
5. Layer on: Don't be afraid to layer on two or three coats to get you that intense, falsie-like look. Just make sure you're using a fresh formula. An old tube will leave your lashes looking dry, spidery and sometimes even shorter.
