1. Feed your hair the nutrients it needs to stay healthy and strong by chowing on lean meats, nuts, beans, fish, and leafy green salads. You can also try taking fish protein supplements to promote the growth of thicker hair.
2. Speaking of supplements, stay on top of your vitamins and minerals. A deficiency in Vitamin D or iron can also lead to hair loss. Adding a cocktail of calcium, iron, zinc, gelatin protein, soy protein, and vitamins D, B12, and B6 will lead to improvements.
3. Step away from the heat. Constantly applying heat and chemical treatments to your hair can weaken your strands and cause them to break off more easily. Weaves and extensions can also cause hair to become brittle and break off or cause inflammation in the hair follicles so be sure to give your hair a break to let it breathe and recover.
4. Loosen up those braids and rock different hairstyles. Tying back your hair tightly and at the same spot pulls on the hair follicles and leads to hair loss so give that pony tail a rest.
5. Nourish your scalp by conditioning regularly and massaging your head when you're washing your tresses. This stimulates blood flow around the hair follicles, promotes growth, and better absorption of treaments.
6. Try to de-stress. Stressors like demanding jobs or relationships can manifest in loss of hair especially if you find yourself gripping your mane to keep from screaming. Find relaxation techniques to help your mind and body deal with the wave.
7. Untangle your hair the correct way by separating it into sections, starting in the middle and working your way to the tip. Then work your way towards the roots so you're not left hacking at your ends with your brush. Check out our consejos on how to prevent split ends.
8. Invest in silk pillow cases or a silk cap to sleep in to keep the nighttime abrasion to a minimum.
9.Talk to your doctor about options if you're really concerned about your thinning hair. If the hair loss is not indicative of a more serious underlying condition, he or she could talk to you about cortisone shots, hormone therapy, and prescription medication.
