Woman makes dresses out of condoms & they’re surprisingly stylish!

There are so many non-sexual things you can do with condoms. You can use them for decorations, blow them up like you would a balloon or maybe even try them as cleaning mits. I'm kidding! But those things don't sound all that wacky compared to what Brazilian-based artist and social activist Adriana Bertini likes to do with her unwanted rubbers. She makes dresses–and you HAVE TO see them!

My super conservative abuelita would have a panic attack if she saw Adriana's colorful dresses, which are made entirely out of condoms. When you think of condoms you don't exactly picture stylish and wearable fashion, right? But this artist really seems to have some serious rubber-handling skills because these gowns are actually really nice!

Adriana used expired or defective condoms and turned them into runway-worthy dresses as part of her Condom Couture project__,__ which aims to create awareness on safe sex and HIV/STIs. As part of the project, she also runs art workshops where she literally teaches students how to cut, dye and sew condoms into gowns.

I'm not going to lie, I'm actually pretty impressed by these pieces. Who would have ever thought you could do so much with condoms? Some of these dresses are really chic, but the question is: Are they actually wearable? I can't imagine them being too uncomfortable considering how lightweight condoms are. I wonder how much she'd get if she decided to sell one. If that one mom managed to make almost $300,000 on eBay selling a DIY dress made out of loom bands, a condom dress has to be worth WAY more, no?
