J.Lo's flawless complexion is probably one of the most buzzed about things on the internet these days. Everyone wants to know how she's managed to age in reverse. Has she had work done or is she just genetically blessed? Sit tight chica, because her secret is finally out and it doesn't include Botox or fillers either!
Byrdie.com got in touch with Jennifer's makeup artist, Mary Phillips to find out how she keeps her skin looking so stunning. Here are some of her tips!
She preps: Phillips claims the secret is all in the skincare. "I'd say skin prep is the most important part of your makeup routine," Phillip says. "People should start thinking of their skincare as their makeup," she says. "If your skin isn't in its prime condition, it hinders what I'm able to accomplish [as a makeup artist]. She claims that she uses L'Oreal Age Perfect Glow Renewal Day Lotion ($25) on Jennifer's skin as a base before applying any makeup.
She gets her glow on: Phillips also likes to put RevitaLift Moisture Blur ($25) on Jennifer's face as a primer. "It diffuses light and creates a very even appearance, while giving a silky finish to the skin," she says.
She uses her fingers: Phillip likes to apply foundation to Jennifer's face using her fingers. "There's something about the heat transferring from your fingers that gives a really glowy finish," she says.
She airbrushes: But for a more red-carpet worth-look, Phillips using a foundation brush by Tom Ford to make J.Lo's complexion look more air-brushed. "You want to be soft and delicate, almost like you're an archeologist uncovering some dinosaur bones," she says. [Applying it in] soft circles is fail-proof—take a little more time and be gentle."
She conceals: To help hide imperfections (not that Jennifer has any), Phillips likes to apply concealer under her eyes, on the sides of her nose and around her lips. "You should have a few different colored concealers on hand," she says. "White [concealer] does not cover dark circles or unfortunate blemishes, but will instead put a spotlight of them and give you the dreaded 'raccoon eyes.' Green cancels red, and a concealer with an orange undertone will make any discoloration under the eyes disappear," she says.
She doesn't drink: But Jennifer has a few tricks of her own for looking young forever. During an interview on Good Morning America, she opened up about how she stays away from unhealthy habits. "I never drank or smoked, and it's really paying off now because my skin is still really good with moisturizing and getting good sleep," she said.
She's obsessive about sunscreen: "I always wear sunscreen: My favorite is L'Oreal Paris Sublime SPF 50+ ($12), and I use it on my little coconuts too," she told Allure magazine—and by "coconuts" she means her twins Max and Emme, not her boobies. Though ladies, sunscreen is super important for your decolletage.
