California girl that I am, I am no stranger to this type of footwear that you see pictured above. I grew up calling them thongs until I asked a roommate if I could model my new thongs for her and she got a hesitant look on her face because she thought I was talking about underwear. Ha! That's when I switched to calling them flip flops. Now my husband who was born and raised in Hawaii looks at me funny because he insists they are called slippahs. Whatever you call them, 'tis the season to wear them and why not perform a little DIY magic on them to make them unique?
