I love summer but hate all the hair problems it comes with. If it's not non-stop frizz, its extreme dryness, damage and hair color fading. Ugh! By the time fall comes I have to stock up on products and treatments to help rehab my hair back to a healthier state. But what if we could keep our strands healthy and gorgeous-looking all summer long? Is that even possible?

It sure is, girl! And it's actually not as hard as you'd think. Whether your want to avoid frizz, beat dryness, boost shine or transition back to your natural curls (like me) without looking like a loca, here are a few simple solutions to help you fix all those summer hair problems!

Maintain your blowout
It's hard to make a blowout last when it's hot and humid. But for those days when you refuse to air dry, try using a heat protectant product that's going to keep strands sleek and also save your hair from heat-damage. I really like Drybar's Hot Toddy Heat Protector and Frizz Fighter ($33).
Fight frizz
If you have curly hair and want to avoid frizz and poof, use a light-weight leave-in conditioner that's going to keep your curls hydrated and defined, like Ouidad Moisture Lock ($23). I'd layer on a styling product like Philip Kingsley Curl Activator ($34), too. The non-sticky formula smoothes, separates and defines curls.
Protect your color
Don't skip out on the beach or a dip in the pool, just to avoid your hair color from fading. Kerastase Soleil Huile Celeste ($40) is a spray that protects hair from sun, chlorine and saltwater damage, while adding shine. Think sunblock–but for your hair!
Stop dryness
If your hair is dry to begin with, avoid shampooing every day during the summer. Instead wash 1-2 times a week with a sulfate-free formula, like WEN Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner ($30). Make sure to incorporate a deep conditioning treatment into your routine at least once a week. I recommend Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Hair Mask ($55). It works wonders.
Absorb oil
Even if you don't normally struggle with oily hair, most of us experience more oil on our roots during the summertime than we'd like to admit. Use a dry shampoo that's going to help absorb oil and boost volume. Try Drybar's Detox Dry Shampoo ($20). Your hair will look and feel so fresh no one would even guess it was dirty!
Get your curls back with ease
Whether you're growing out a chemical straightener (like a relaxer or keratin treatment) or trying to revive your curls from heat-damage, there are ways you can easily transition back to your rizos without looking like a hot mess and experiencing breakage. During the summer, try to avoid heat-styling as often as possible and make sure to condition hair at least once a week. I like OGX Quenched Sea Mineral Moisture Moisture Surge Deep Treatment ($8). Before styling, coat ends with a palm-sized amount of organic, unrefined coconut oil and a curl cream that's going to help make your straight-wavy pieces look more uniformed with your curly roots. I love Ouidad Curl Recovery Curl Defining Styling Souffle ($26).
Boost shine
Summer hair tends to look dry and dull. Restore shine with a hair gloss, like Rita Hazan Ultimate Shine Gloss ($26). It also helps refresh your hair's natural color.
