All those creamy cleansers, heavy serums and moisturizing masks might keep your skin hydrated during the wintertime but they might just cause clogged pores and irritation during the spring/summertime. Not sure where to start? Don't stress, chica! Here's how to change your skin care routine for spring and look flawless by summer!

Change your cleansing method

During the warmer months, our skin tends to produce more oil. I recommend washing your face with a cleansing brush that's going to deeply cleanse, minimize enlarged pores and control oil. I'm obsessed with The Clarisonic Pore Detoxifying Solution Kit ($169). It's pricey but SO worth it! It leaves skin so flawless and radiant, you'll look like you just had a professional facial after every use!

Switch your cleanser

Winter time calls for gentle cleansers that aren't going to cause dryness while springtime requires a cleanser that's going to deeply cleanse while also clarifying and brightening your complexion. Try the Bore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser ($6).

Exfoliate

Want glowy skin? Try exfoliating twice a week with a facial scrub, like Bliss Micro Magic Spa-Powered Microdermabrasion Treatment ($48). This cream-based formula is so gentle it removes dead skin cell buildup while also soothing, nourishing and moisturizing your skin. It's like a spa in a tube!

Change your moisturizer

Look for a gel-based moisturizer that's going to hydrate and lock in moisture without leaving skin full of shine and oil. I love Ahava Active Moisture Gel Cream ($40).

Stack up on sunscreen

You should be wearing sunscreen protection ALL year long but especially during the warmer months! Try a light moisturizer that contains at least SPF 30. I recommend Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture SPF 35 ($12). Unlike most facial sunscreens, this one doesn't leave my face greasy, shiny or with pesky white residue!

Do a face mask

Do a clay face mask at least once a week to help remove excess oils and reduce the appearance of pores. Try Lancôme Pure Empreinte Masque ($35).

Use a different foundation

Swap your liquid foundation or mineral powders (which tend to clog pores) for a light-weight tinted moisturizer. The Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 ($43) is one of the best I've tried. It's like second skin!
