It's crazy how enslaved some of us women are to makeup. I know naturally gorgeous chicas that won't even walk to their corner bodega without making sure they've applied a generous amount of foundation and concealer to their faces first. They're so afraid of people seeing their "imperfections" and don't realize that's it's those very same "imperfections" that make them uniquely beautiful.
Well the next time you find yourself being hard on your looks, think about this inspiring Dermablend's "Camo Confessions" campaign video featuring Cheri Lindsey. This brave and beautiful woman with vitiligo, a skin pigmentation condition, isn't afraid to show people how she really looks and it's truly inspiring!

Lindsey's condition developed 3 years ago when she was a sophomore in college. The sun exposure in Texas made the condition spread that much faster. "It's not that easy to deal with," she admits in the video, holding back tears. "When I first got vitiligo, I had to ask myself a couple of questions. Does it hurt? No. Is it contagious? Not at all. And can I still live with this and be successful? Hell yes."
In the video, Lindsay appears a lot more confident and sure of herself than a lot of women I know that don't struggle with vitiligo or any other severe skin conditions. In the beginning of the video you see her wipe off an entire layer of makeup from her face, revealing her true skin but still keeping a smile on her face. Lindsay uses makeup to help people look past her condition, but she's not by any means ashamed of it.
"Don't hide," she's finishes. "There's something wrong with everybody. Nobody's 100 percent perfect." And she's absolutely right. It's okay to want to look your best, but the problem is since society places so much pressure on us women to look a certain way, we begin putting way too much emphasis on our looks. So much so, we become ashamed of our imperfections. Beauty fades, which is why it's important to constantly remind ourselves that's what's inside is what really counts!
