A 17-year-old model from the U.K. underwent a simple beauty treatment that may have cost her her career. Harleigh Kay walked into the American Nails Salon in Luton for a quick eyebrow tint. But what seemed like a simple treatment left her eyebrows burned and filled with pus. Her reaction got so bad, she was hardly able to even open her eyes. You have to see this! It's freaking horrifying!

Harleigh noticed some redness around her eyebrows immediately after having the treatment done, but the real symptoms didn't appear until the following day. She woke up with her face completely flared up along with itchiness and sores. She took some antihistamines and even applied Vaseline all around her eyes, but this did nothing. Before she knew her eyebrows were filled with dripping yellow pus and her face was so swollen, she couldn't even open her eyes.
Harleigh was rushed to the emergency room where she was given steroids, antihistamines, and of course antibiotics. But the bad news is that Harleigh, who was been modeling since she was 4, may not be able to model again if the scars don't heal. "It's quite upsetting to think I could be left with scars," she told the DailyMail. "I just wanted to treat myself to a little treatment but instead it's been a disaster."
Leigh, the owner of the salon, was pretty shocked by the whole thing herself. The salon even tried offering Harleigh £200 (the equivalent of $333) in compensation, but her family refused to accept it. Instead, they're taking legal action against the salon so that no other client has to experience what this poor 17-year-old did. They've even started a campaign called "Safer Beauty Salons" to force beauty industries to regulate their treatments so that they're always carried out in a safe manner.
This traumatizing situation is definitely enough to make me think twice before walking into a salon to receive a beauty treatment again. My heart really goes out to this poor teen. It's a lesson for all of us to be extra careful where we go get our beauty treatments done, even ones as simple as brow tinting. We have to do our research!
