I love fashion, but let's face it–a lot of the runway trends don't work for us real women. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of seeing pieces that only look good on mannequins and frail thin models. Seriously, what's the point? But that's why I'm super hyped for this year's new fashion trends because most of them ACTUALLY work for most figures. I'm talking pencil skirts, form-fitted dresses, and pants that work for us chicas with curves. It's about time right?

Pencil skirts
I've always loved the way pencil skirts enhance a curvy figure, but who wants to wear office attire on the weekends? Lucky for you, these calf-length skirts now come in stretchy (and comfy) jersey material making them work for any casual look. Wear one with a pullover sweater and some ankle booties and you're set! Hm.com, $13
Mid-length dress
Mini bodycon dresses are SO 2013. This year it's all about hip-hugging mid-length frocks. They show off your waist, booty, and amazing calves. And they're elegant enough to wear anywhere from the office to an evening party. Asos.com, $45
Pleated skirts
A short pleated skirt will make you look like you have legs for days (even if you really don't). Try one in a fun print. Modcloth.com, $43
Wide leg pants
Wide leg pants aren't just stylish, but they also help conceal thunder thighs. Tuck in a silky blouse and throw on some heels and you'll look leaner than ever. Asos.com, $46
Crop top
Who says you have to have abs to rock a crop top? Paired with some high-waisted pants or a skirt this shows just enough skin to give the illusion of a smaller waist and flatter tummy. Forever21.com, $14
Asymmetrical skirt
This soft knit twisted asymmetrical skirt makes legs look longer and leaner. I love how you can easily dress it up or down. Forever21.com, $15
Radiant Orchid
Luckily for us, Pantone's color of the year, Radiant Orchid looks great on all figures and skin tones. I think it works well especially on us curvy chicas with medium or dark complexion. Try sporting a mini dress in this fab shade. Bluefly.com, $49
