I'm a big beauty product junkie, but with the holidays here, it becomes almost impossible to stock up on beauty creams and hair conditioning masks. That's why these days I'm hitting up my kitchen and cooking up some of my abuelita's favorite beauty recipes to get me looking gorgeous. I'm telling you DIY remedies can get your skin and hair looking just as nice (and for half the price). I do it all the time!

So whether you're looking to strengthen your nails, condition your cuticles, or cure a pesky dry scalp there's a natural treatment for it. Here are some of my favorite DIY beauty remedies of all time. Believe me–these definitely get the job done!

For dry scalp
Nothing works better on my dry scalp than some good old apple cider vinegar. I add one tablespoon of it and mix it with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, two tablespoons of tea tree oil, and a cup of water. Add it to a spray bottle and spritz from roots to ends. And after 10-15 minutes rinse off and shampoo as usual. Works every time!
For chapped lips
I swear I have a chronic case of chapped lips. No matter how much balm I put nothing keeps my labios smoother than an all-natural brown sugar scrub. Just take one teaspoon of brown sugar and mix it 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of honey. Scrub it on your lips until it buffs away all those feathery pieces of skin and you're good to go.
For cellulite
There may not be a cure to cellulite, but this Brazilian coffee treatment certainly comes close. All you need is 1/2 cup of coffee grounds, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, and a 1/4 cup of olive. Blend all the ingredients together and massage it into your skin using a circular motion.
For hair growth
After a terrible haircut gone wrong I got my long, luscious locks back with an old coconut oil remedy they've been using in my family for years. Take 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 teaspoon of rosemary oil, and 1 tablespoon of honey and mix it together in a small bowl. Apply throughout your hair and leave on for about 20 minutes before rinsing out. Do this treatment at least once a week for quick results.
For stretch marks
Who says you can't prevent stretch marks? A friend of mine kept her skin stretch-mark free during pregnancy with this popular cocoa butter Dominican remedy. She added 8 oz. of cocoa butter, 10 collagen soft liquid gel supplements, and 2-3 oz. of vitamin E oil into a large container than rubbed it all over her body after every shower.
For cracked cuticles
During the wintertime my cuticles get cracked like there's no tomorrow–it's gross! But a teaspoon of raw honey mixed with a teaspoon of aloe vera juice and a teaspoon of olive oil always does the trick.
