Let's be real: What woman doesn't want her hair to look like she's just stepped out of the salon? That's why so many of us pay to get our strands blown out, colored, and deep conditioned. But between gifts and hosting, the holiday season can take a big toll on our pockets. Luckily all it takes is a little time and a few affordable ingredients to get your pelo looking its best. Here are a few at-home hair treatments I highly recommend!
Treat an oily scalp: There's nothing more annoying than washing your hair the night before just to find it flat and oily by morning. Out of dry shampoo? Don't stress girl! Grab some plain dry oatmeal and place it on your scalp for a few minutes. It quickly absorbs oily and it's really easy to brush out.
Seal split ends: The best way to treat split ends is with a trim. But to extend the time between salon visits, try sealing your ends with a dab of pure coconut oil before bed. Apply only to the last inch of your hair. In the morning wash out and notice instantly smoother ends!
Make your hair color last: If you color-treat your locks, you know that shampooing causes your color to fade. To help keep that hue nice and radiant, try mixing two or three crushed aspirins with your favorite shampoo. The salicylic acid in the aspirin helps to restore shine and also removes excess coating on the hair.
Boost shine: For an instant shine boost, rinse hair with a glass of champagne. It won't just leave your hair radiant but it also helps enhance your natural highlights. Cheers to that!
Remove build up: To get rid of product build up, try washing your hair with a non-foaming cleanser, like Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser ($11), to help remove product without stripping your hair of its natural oils. It's just like a cleansing conditioner only a lot cheaper!
