Abuela’s beauty DIY: The perfect fix for dry, cracked cuticles

Winter tends to take a bad beating on my body. I get dry skin, dry scalp, brittle nails, and even cracked cuticles. Ugh, so gross! Cold weather causes your skin and nails to lose moisture and all that hand washing during cold and flu season doesn't help either. Believe it or not, your cuticles can really affect the health and growth of your nails. The question is: How exactly do you heal (and prevent) cracked cuticles?

There are definitely creams out there that can treat cracked cuticles, but I find that my abuelita's DIY remedy works best. She uses nourishing ingredients like aloe vera and olive oil to help smooth out skin. Check out the recipe below and try it out for yourself!

What you need:

1 teaspoon of raw honey

1 teaspoon of aloe vera juice

1 teaspoon of olive oil

What to do:

1. Mix all of the ingredients in a small bowl.

2. Now massage the mixture onto your cuticles for about two to three minutes.

3. Apply a moisturizing hand cream immediately after to lock in moisture.

I recommend doing this treatment a few times week for quick results.
