Believe it or not, this condition is actually WAY more common than you think. I actually struggle with dry hair and oily scalp myself. It's a pesky problem because on the one hand you want to shampoo every day to combat the oily scalp, but the frequent shampoos can dry out your already dry ends. The trick is to find a hair care routine that's going to cleanse your scalp while keeping your ends healthy and hydrated. Check out a few of my simple tips below to help you put an end to this annoying hair dilemma once and for all!

Shampoo for your scalp: Choose a shampoo that targets an oily scalp, but that's going to moisturize the mid-sections and ends of your hair. I recommend a sulfate-free cleansing conditioner, like WEN Tea Tree Cleansing Conditioner ($35).

Use a deeply moisturizing conditioner: Look for a conditioner that's going to replenish your strands with moisture, like Garnier Fructis Hydra Recharge Fortifying Conditioner ($4). Only apply it where it's needed, in other words from mid-length to the ends. Try to avoid getting any conditioner on your scalp.

Do a deep treatment mask: Look for an intensive conditioning mask that's going to moisturize your hair like crazy without adding weight. I love L'Oréal Paris Power Moisture Moisture Rush Mask ($7). It keeps my curls soft, manageable, and still bouncy.

Keep styling products away from roots: Whatever styling products you use whether it's curl creams, leave-in treatments, mousse, or gels, keep them on your ends and away from your roots at all times!

Do a quick cleanse: Dry shampoos and curly hair don't exactly pair well. If you want to refresh your scalp while still adding bounce to your curls, try DevaCurl No-Poo Quick Cleanser ($20). It does exactly that–all in just a matter of seconds!
