5 Tips to make your face look slimmer in pictures

Doesn't Adrienne Bailon's nose look much thinner than usual? By the looks of it, you'd think maybe she had a nose job or something. But considering how much Adrienne LOVES using makeup to highlight and define her features, I'm pretty sure this is just really good contouring! Believe it or not, the right neutral tones can do it all from sculpting your nose and cheekbones, to even making your face look thinner. It's all about using dark and light colors to create a perfectly defined face!

Contouring can help emphasize the angles on your face. In other words, you can get those chiseled cheeks you've always dreamed up without the plastic surgery! The best part is that contouring is actually a lot easier than it looks. All you need are the right tools with the right techniques–and with the holidays and all the pictures that are going to be taken coming up soon, these tips will come in handy! Check out a few of my easy-to-follow tips below to help you learn how to contour and highlight:

For a slimmer nose: Apply concealer that's one shade lighter than your skin tone down the center of your nose. I like to use a stick formula, like Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer ($70). This helps draw attention to the bridge of your nose, making it appear slimmer. Now take a bronzer that's one or two shades darker than your complexion and apply it from the inner corner of your brows down the curve of your bridge using an eye shadow brush. Then blend.

For defined cheek bones: To sculpt cheekbones, apply bronzer diagonally down towards your jawline using a small round brush. You can also try a bronzer stick, like NARS Multiple Bronzer ($39) instead.

For a softer jawline: Because I have a rounder face, I like applying blush a little further back than the apples of my cheeks, feathering it away towards the corner of my mouth. For medium or dark skin tones, try using a bright shade, like Bobbi Brown Blush in Apricot ($25) for a nice pop of color. Remember blending is key.

Thinner face: To make your face look more elongated, apply a bronzer one or two shades darker than your skin tone diagonally under your cheek bones, on your jawline, and under your face.

Highlight: Add a dab of illuminator to those features you want to emphasize, like the top and bottom portion of your lips, the round part of your nose, your brow bones, and the apple of your cheeks (over blush). I recommend Benefit Girl Meets Pearl Luminizer For Face ($30).
