Abuela’s beauty DIY: Delicious coconut & brown sugar body scrub for dry winter skin

My skin gets so dry and scaly during the winter months, it's embarrassing! I can try every body lotion in the market and nothing works. The only thing that ever seems to do the trick for me are body scrubs. Exfoliators leave my skin smooth, soft, and glowing. But why spend money on fancy formulas when you can get the same (or better) results with an all-natural fix? I know a brown sugar DIY body scrub that works wonders!

Every winter my abuelita scrubs her body down with a homemade brown sugar and coconut body polish. Not only does it leave your skin feeling smooth and silky, but it makes you smell pretty awesome too! It smells so delicious you'll want to eat it! But I don't recommend you do, though!

Check out how to make it yourself with a few of my simple tips below!

What you need:

1 cup of brown sugar

1/2 cup of organic coconut oil (in solid form)

1/3 cup of almond oil

What to do:

1. Add all the ingredients into a large bowl and mix until it's well combined. Make sure to fully break down the coconut oil so you're left with no chunks.

2. Now use a loofa or exfoliating brush to rub the scrub all over your body. I like to apply it in a circular motion.

3. Wash off in the shower, and then apply a deeply moisturizing body lotion immediately after to help lock in moisture.

I recommend doing this scrub at least once a week during the winter months. Believe me, after trying this DIY remedy you'll never want to buy a regular body scrub ever again!
