I don' think I'm ever going to get the appeal behind the whole "thigh gap" trend. You know that space between your thighs that supposedly suggests you're "skinny." And it looks like plus model Robyn Lawley, who has been hearing about "thigh gap" since she was 12, isn't too fond of it herself. She recently expressed her feelings about the crazy beauty trend that's become so dangerous!

Robyn who is one of the top plus-sized models in the world, was disgusted after seeing an un-retouched photo of herself in lingerie (pictured below) posted on a pro "thigh gap" Facebook page. Nasty and degrading comments followed. Some called her "too hefty" to be featured while others used "PIG" to describe Robyn's curvy figure. And many claimed that her thigh gap was not even "big enough." Ugh!
So instead of keeping silent, Robyn decided to responded to the hundreds of comments made about her body by defending her healthy curves.
You sit behind a computer screen objectifying my body, judging it and insulting it, without even knowing it. Fortunately for me, thousands of people respect my body, which means I get to travel the world advancing the ideal that healthy is beautiful and true acceptance comes from within, not from comments on a Facebook page.
Good for her! I'm absolutely outraged that other women would brutally criticize this woman's body. The fact that someone with a healthy looking figure would be called a "pig" or "too hefty" says a lot about our society's obsession with looking frail thin. I'm just glad that Robyn wasn't afraid to speak up about it. She went even further with it in an article she wrote for The Daily Beast.
"he truth is I couldn't care less about needing a supposed "thigh gap." It's just another tool of manipulation that other people are trying to use to keep me from loving my body. Why would I want to starve and weaken my natural body size? I'm not saying women who have it naturally are unattractive. But I would have to change my entire frame just to achieve something that seems so trivial."
I couldn't agree more with Robyn. It's sad how we women put so much pressure on ourselves to reach these so called perfect body "ideals." We shouldn't have to starve ourselves in order to feel beautiful. Let's stop this harmful "thigh gap" trend now!
